Wife of an Islamic cleric is suing the Italian government for her husband's alleged abduction and transportation from Italy to Egypt in 2003, where he faced torture.

The case has marked similarities with the abduction of alleged Pakistani woman terrorist Aafia Siddiqui from Karachi, also in 2003, who resurfaced in Afghanistan last year.
