Punjabis cry as teachers die

advertisement

The dominant ethnic Punjabis who control Pakistan army are leaving Baluchistan en mass amidst a spate of killings of Punjabi teachers and principals by the Baluch resistance fighters.

Most of these teachers are Punjabi settlers who were never touched in Baluchistan prior to the extra judicial killing of former chief minister and governor of Baluchistan, Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, by the Pakistan military, on August 26, 2006.

The army did not even allow a proper burial for the slain leader, whose grandson Nawab Brahamdagh Bugti is now one the key leaders against Pakistan military presence in Baluchistan.

The Baluch are demanding of Pakistan army to give a firm time-table for their troop pullout from Baluchistan and are asking the permanent members of the UN Security Council to talk directly with them.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

President Karzai can play a big role in peaceful Balkanization of Pakistan for the good of all parties concerned. The Baluch have said they want good neighborly relations with Punjab as a sovereign nation.
