Dark age in Pakistan: Muslims burn Christian man as policeman rapes his wife

Washington, D.C. (March 23, 2010)–International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that a Christian man, Arshed Masih, died yesterday after Muslims burned him alive for refusing to recant his faith. Additionally, a Muslim policeman raped Masih’s wife.

Masih and his wife, Martha, worked and lived at the house of Sheik Mohammad Sultan, a powerful Muslim businessman in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, since 2005.

Pakistan's most powerful man, army chef General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani is from the Rawalpindi area and is visiting the U.S. capitol.

In January, Muslim religious leaders and Sheik Sultan asked Masih and his family to convert to Islam. Masih and his family refused to convert and informed Sheik Sultan that they were going to quit working for him. The Sheik became furious and warned Masih that he would kill him if he quit. Masih told his family and friends about the entire incident. Christian leaders tried to persuade the Sheik to let Masih and his family leave his house.

On March 14, Sheik Sultan`s house was robbed. He filed a case of theft of 500,000 Rupees ($ 5,952) against Martha. After taking them for questioning, the police assaulted Masih and raped Martha. Two days later, Sheik Sultan told the couple that he would ask the police to release them if they converted to Islam. The couple refused to recant their faith.

On March 19, Masih was set on fire in front of the police station. At the time, three Muslim religious leaders and three policemen were present at the scene. The perpetrators have not been identified.

Masih was taken to the Holy Family Hospital where he received treatment for three days before finally dying today.

Masih’s children Mary, 12, Nasir, 10, and Neha, 7, are deeply traumatized after witnessing acts of brutality against their family at the hands of Muslims.

ICC’s Regional Manager for South Asia, Jonathan Racho, said “We are outraged and deeply saddened by the murder of Masih and the rape of Martha by the police. As this case clearly indicates, Pakistani Christians are treated as less than animals by the Muslims. We urge the president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zadari, and other high level government officials to bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.”

Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, president of Pakistan Christian Congress, condemned the killing of Masih and rape of his wife.“ Rape of Martha Bibi before her children by Muslim police officials and burning of her husband took place just a few miles from building of the Supreme Court of Pakistan where Muslim jusdges sitting on benches of justice have no sympathy with Christian victims. Perhaps in the eyes of these judges rape of an "infidel woman" is not a crime."

Please call the Pakistani Embassy in your country and demand of the officials of Pakistan to thoroughly investigate the heinous crime committed against Masih and Martha and bring all the perpetrators to justice.

The delusions of religion are the cause of this "beast". Historically Christians have done the same thing to Muslims. The problem is the delusional idea that the supposed creator of the Universe wants humans to kill each other for differing interpretations of what said creator wants humans to do.

Historically people have also found it prudent to outwardly follow the religion of the oppressing powers. At least you live long enough to consider your options.

Unfortunately this happens quite a bit. My Church receives emails from Churches in Pakistan detailing stories like this. They are not scared and know the cost for their faith. They will ask for simple things like Urdu Bibles and prayers. Pakistanis will be great in heaven and they will have earned it. I wish American Christians were as bold.

know the cost for their faith

Common sense would tell them to outwardly convert and keep their beliefs to themselves. Do they get a prize for dying for their faith?? Or do the Muslims get a prize for killing the infidels?? Or maybe there is no god and they are killing each other over a delusion.

God is loving and just; on the last day, the martyrs, the murderers, the rapist, and those who instigated them will all be given their "prize" according to God's wisdom.

One of the issues that bothers me the most is how the associated businesses, I mean religious organizations, respond to this. I don't support nor promote one religion over another. Religion is the single number one cause of more deaths in this world than anything else, but that is another discussion.

Regardless if I support religions or not, I do notice that some speak out more often and faster to denounce such acts than others. Yes, the catholic church has a nasty history (crusades) and has had some recent issues with priests and little boys. But I constantly hear catholics and their leaders talking badly about these things and condemning such acts. Not all of them but quite a few.

When was the last time the leaders of Islam around the world stood up and denounced acts like this? When is the last time you have heard the Muslim community in your local town put out a statement against such acts? I have never heard it! I am not saying that Islam promotes this type of behavior, but you would think those that truly believe Islam is good would come out denounce these types of acts to prevent spreading more of a negative opinion about their religion among non-followers.

Just my two cents!

What is most troubling about this, is that so few people know, and even fewer care, about the plight of people like Masih, Martha, Mary, Nasir, and Neha Bibi. They are not alone in suffering for their faith; the persecution of Christians is widespread.

Thank you Mr. Mustikhan for having the heart and courage to bring this story to our attention. Our prayers go out to the Bibi family, and all those who suffer for their faith.

And the whole world is upset because a preacher wants to burn the koran.

Verity to U

The fact that not one Iman has denounced this behavior, leadsme to believe it is an acceptable behavior within the muslim communities...Since Islam is such a cultist abhorrence can we expect to have this become the norm for our country,we already have fathers killing their daughters and wifes for some slight against their ridged beliefs.....Will it become the norm for us here ?? I believe we will see Sharia courts set up in the U.S.,just as they have done in the U.K. one set of laws for us and one set of laws for them...
